CONWAY, Ark. - The Hendrix College women's tennis team lost 6-3 to Birmingham-Southern Saturday in a Southern Athletic Association battle of regionally ranked teams.
The visiting Panthers (4-5, 1-1), ranked 15th in the Atlantic South, started by taking two of the three doubles matches from the Warriors (9-3, 1-1), who are ranked 18th. BSC then won four singles matches.
Hendrix' senior duo of
Julia Lefler and
Lauren Mahaney defeated MaKenzie Courtney and Isabella Wisner 8-5 in the second spot.
The Warriors picked up a number two singles victory when Lefler topped Wisner 6-3, 0-6, 7-5. Freshman
Rebecca Sherman won at number four 7-5, 6-3 over Emily Whitlock.
Hendrix will host Millsaps College Sunday morning at 10 a.m.
