Colonels Top Warriors in SAA Finale

DANVILLE, Ky. - The Hendrix College women's tennis team finished the regular season with an 8-1 loss at Centre College in Southern Athletic Association action Saturday.

The Warriors (9-8, 1-6) finish the season as the seventh seed and will face second-seeded Colonels (12-6, 6-1), the ninth-ranked team in the Atlantic South Region, in the first round of the SAA Tournament at Burns Park in North Little Rock, Ark. Friday.

Hendrix only point came at number two doubles, where seniors Julia Lefler and Lauren Mahaney defeated Abigail Kent and Emily Zelichenok 9-7. The Orange & Black pair improved their record to 11-4 on the season.

Centre swept through singles action. Lefler fell to Aliza Williams 6-4, 6-2 in the second spot. Freshman Rebecca Sherman lost to Zelichenok 6-4, 7-5 at number four.
