DANVILLE, Ky. - Hendrix College head baseball coach
Neil Groat earned his 100th career victory as his team completed a Southern Athletic Association sweep of Centre College on Sunday.
The Warriors (14-17, 8-7) won the game on a three-run homer from sophomore third baseman
Jorge Leon in the top of the ninth.
Groat, a Hendrix graduate of 2005, compiled his 100th win in his fifth season. He sits second in career victories at Hendrix behind R.J. Thomas who won 108 contests in six seasons at the helm.
In the game, Hendrix jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first two innings. In the top of the fourth, senior catcher
James Martin was hit by a pitch and later scored on a ground ball by junior center fielder
Drew Judson to give the Orange & Black a 4-0 lead.
The Colonels (14-15, 4-11) picked up a run in the bottom of the fourth after two hits and an error. The Warriors went up 6-1 in the sixth. Judson doubled and sophomore first baseman
Josh Walker singled, moving Judson to third. Junior right fielder
Matthew Lillard hit a sacrifice fly, plating Judson. Walker would score on a wild pitch.
Centre made the game 6-4 with three runs on three hits and an error in the sixth. The Colonels took a 7-6 with three more runs in the seventh. Hendrix tied it up in the eighth when Judson led off with a single and scored on a Lillard double.
In the top of the ninth, freshman second baseman
Sean Dehne recorded an infield single and Martin doubled, moving Dehne to third. Leon blasted his second home run of the season over the fence in right field to give the Warriors the milestone victory.
Freshman reliever
Hayden Seay (1-1) earned his first career win by allowing a hit and two walks with a strikeout in two scoreless frames. Sam Shelley (0-3) took the loss for the Colonels.

- Right fielder Drew Schacht was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and a stolen base.
- Shortstop Parker Selin hit a double, drove in a run and scored twice.
