Tyler, TX - The Hendrix women's soccer team started their 2017 campaign with a trip to take on the Cowgirls of Harden-Simmons University. This was the first non-conference game of the year for both teams. Unfortunately for Hendrix, the Warriors couldn't knock off Harden-Simmons as the Cowgirls took the victory 2-1.
The Cowgirls scored two goals in the first half and one in the second to take the game by a final of 2-1. The Warriors got a goal from sophomore
Hagan Griffith, while juniors
Amanda Hamilton and
McKenna Rylands added two shots on goal in the loss.
Senior
Jordan Rausch finished the evening by making nine saves, as the Warriors start its season with a (0-1) record overall.Â
"I have to say I was very proud of the girls today," said Head Coach
Jeff Trimble. "We played a very skilled team that is well coached and I felt like we played really well. The first half we were back on our heels and didn't play very aggressive soccer. You cant do that when your playing a great team. The second half I was extremely excited to see how hard the girls played it with. We didn't get the win but I feel like it was a step in the right direction."
Hendrix will next take on UT Tyler on Sunday September 3rd at 2:30 p.m.Â
