Warriors Win Conference Thriller

Memphis, TN - The Warriors returned to action as they traveled to face their first SAA Conference foe in the Lynx of Rhodes College. Both teams are coming off of non-conference losses on Saturday as Hendrix lost to UT Dallas and Rhodes dropped three sets to UT Tyler. The Warriors looked to get on the right track and improve on their 2-6 overall record.  The Lynx came in with a 5-3 overall record.

Set number one proved to be a back forth contest with the Warriors coming out on top 25-19. Hendrix held the lead throughout the match and was able to break away late in route to victory.

The second set was much like the first as each team fought hard for every point.  The Lynx would score the first point but would never take the lead again. The set finished with a score 25-12 in favor of Hendrix. The Lynx beat themselves in the set committing four errors and only recording seven kills.

Hendrix started hot out of the gate in set three carrying some momentum from the previous set as they jumped out to an early fast scoring pace. The Lynx stormed back with a great sequence of rallies and tied the score up at eight.  After keeping the score within a few points of one an other it came down to the wire as the conference rivals found themselves neck in neck at 22-19 in favor of HC.  The Warriors would rattle off three straight points at the end to take the crucial third set 25-20 and complete the 3-0 sweep.

"It was a fun win for our group tonight," said Head Coach Angie Boldt. "I thought we were fundamentally sound which resulted in low error volleyball. We are excited to finally be on our home court this weekend after three straight road trips."

The Warriors improve to 3-6 and start SAA play with a conference record of 1-0. The Lynx drop to 5-4 overall and will start out winless in conference play at 0-1.

Hendrix hits the court again on Saturday September 16th with their second SAA matchup as the Colonels of Centre make the trip up. The match is set to start at 12:00pm.
