Jacksonville, IL - The Hendrix College Men's Soccer team traveled to MacMurry College this afternoon, looking to keep the wins coming. The Warriors started off hot and stayed that way, scoring a goal in the first half and a goal in the second for an 2-0 victory over the Highlanders.
The opening 45 minutes was full of dominance for the Warriors, outshooting MacMurry 9-0. One of the nine shots found the back of the net early on, as sophomore
Josh Robbins scored his first goal of the season just 25' into the match as he tapped in a
Chase Beeler flick from a
Trey Webb throw.
Freshman
Jack Butler netted the second goal of the game from 12 yards out from a Webb cross from the left flank. This gave HC the 2-0 shutout against MacMurry.
"We are very pleased with the shutout and happy to get our third win of the year," said Head Coach
Matt Kern. "2-0 was a fair score line, but we are looking to be a bit more dynamic with our movement in the final third, and more composed with our finishing. We will look to recover and prepare for a good Webster team on Sunday."
Hendrix controlled from start to finish, peppering MacMurry with 20Â total shots compared to none for the Highlanders. The shot on goal total finished 12-0 to the Warriors advantage.
Senior keeper
Nathan Myers increased his clean sheet streak by 90'.
The win improves the Warriors to 3-4 on the season and they now turn their attention to Webster when they travel to Webster Groves, MO on Sunday, September 17.
