Five Goals Hold as the Warriors Take Down the Blazers

Frostburg, MD -  Holly Heeb gave Hendrix a 2-0 lead going into the second half, and Hendrix field hockey would score three more goals in the second half to never relinquish their advantage as they held off the Blazers of Hood College by a score of 5-0 on Sunday Afternoon.

Hendrix took 28 shots on goal compared to one for HC.

After a blasting of shots from the Warriors, Hendrix finally came up with a great opportunity in the 29th minute as they took the ball deep into HC's territory. The Blazers managed to dispossess the Warriors, but Heeb picked up the loose ball and knocked it into the cage for her sixth goal of the season.

The Warriors added on to their lead at the 33-minute mark, as Heeb ripped another shot into the goal taking the 2-0 lead into half time.

Hendrix constantly put pressure on the Blazers defense throughout the second period, as they scored another three goals. HC's last goal of the afternoon came from Tegan Waller as Hendrix won their second game of the season 5-0.

"For the fourth game in a row the Warriors got on the board first," said Head Coach Rebecca Begley. "In the first shut out of the season Hendrix freshman stepped up big today defensively."

"The Warriors found their groove today and looked like a hockey team rather than 13 individual players," ended Coach Begley. "I am looking forward to continuing to develop and grow this week."

Heeb and Waller provided the offense for the Warriors, as the duo took a combined 22 shots and placed 20 on goal throughout the contest.

The Warriors will look to keep the streak going on Friday, Sept. 22 as they host Belmont Abbey. Game time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
