Conway, AR -Â The Hendrix Warrior field hockey team lost another close game to a top opponent on Friday night as they fell 3-2 in 2OT to the Belmont Abbey College Crusaders. The Warriors and Crusaders had a 2-2 score 70 minutes in regulation to force double overtime.
Just six minutes into the second overtime the Crusaders found the back of the cage. Mia Maminski would have the game winning goal for BAC.Â
In regulation the Crusaders outshot the Warriors 15-11 and held an edge in shots on goal through the game 12-7 . Unfortunately for the Warriors their two regulation goals would not be enough.
Hendrix's first goal came in the first 12 minutes of the game. Following a penalty corner,
Nadine Matena fired a shot that got past BAC's goalie giving HC the 1-0 lead.
On the night, Matena led the offense with five shots, and the two HC goals.
In cage,
Alexis Truitt collected nine saves.
With the loss the Warriors fall to 2-3 on the season.
Hendrix will next take the field on Saturday when the Falcons from Concordia Wisconsin travel to Warrior Field. Game time is scheduled for 3:00 p.m
