Warriors Swept in Bout with Berry

Mount Berry, GA -  The Hendrix Warriors Women's Volleyball team took to the court once again in search of ending their losing streak, as they traveled to face the Berry College Vikings Saturday afternoon.

The Warriors entered the match with an 5-7,2-1 SAA overall record, while the Vikings, brought in an 8-3, 3-0 SAA record.

Set one started as a close affair in the beginning, in the middle BC started to pull away, and all the way through to the end Berry was able to gain even more distance as they took the first set by 9 (25-16).

Lack of focus and some miscommunication highlighted the beginning minutes of set two for the Warriors. Despite some mental blocks, Hendrix found still very much in the game early, doing their best to fend off the Viking's persistent attack.  The Vikings kept coming and coming, as the tide was turned in a matter of minutes.  What was once a 7-7 tie, almost immediately swung to a 19-9 Viking advantage.

The Warriors showed fight, though they would ultimately lose set two 25-17.

The Warriors again found themselves with their backs against the walls heading into a decisive third set.

The third and eventual final set of the evening brought more of the same for the Warriors. Playing from behind for the entirety of the set, Hendrix simply looked defeated as the winning points of the night were scored.

Leading the charge for the Warriors was Amber Melcher with 21 assists. Lauren Dwyer and Maddie Tovar also ended first and second on the team tonight in kills, totaling nine and eight, respectively.

The Warriors will be back in action on Sunday, September 24th, for a game against Oglethorpe. The game will be held in Atlanta, GA and will begin tentatively at 12 pm EST.
