Marshall, TX -Â The Hendrix College Men's soccer team returned to action yesterday afternoon when they traveled to Marshall, TX to take on East Texas Baptist University in a game that started over two hours late due to a lightning delay.
Hendrix came into the game 0-2 after falling to Southwestern University on Sunday 7-1. Â The Tigers entered the game with a 0-1-1 record.
The Tigers jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the 29' when Jordan Burke scored his first goal of the season.
Hendrix mustered up three shots and two on goal in the game but were unable to find the back of the net. The Tigers had seven shots in the game, with six on net.
Hendrix amped up the pressure in the second half, but East Texas Baptist GK Bryant Botello was able to keep Hendrix out of the net a late third goal held up as the game winner as East Texas Baptist University held on to win 3-0.
"Really proud of the group as we made improvements in our collective defending and spacing in possession," said Head Coach
Matt Kern. "ETBU scored a couple of very good goals, and we will look to move forward this weekend at the tournament at Rhodes."

Hendrix will return to the pitch Saturday afternoon on day one of the Rhodes Greg Volgas Memorial Tournament when they face off with Fontbonne at 12 pm.
