Memphis, TN - The Hendrix men's soccer team competed in day one of the Rhodes Greg Volgas Memorial Tournament taking on the Griffins of Fontbonne University. After sticking with the Griffins for much of the first 40 minutes, two goals in a one minute span powered Fontbonne to a 3-0 victory over Hendrix.
The Griffins peppered Hendrix keeper
Nathan Myers with eight total shots, including four on goal. The Warrior offense was able to generate nine shots of their own, however, none were able to find the back of the net as they were held scoreless for the second straight game.
"I thought Fontbonne did a good job of possessing the ball in their defensive third, and was the better team in possession," said Head Coach
Matt Kern.
"We created a handful of good quality chances and hope to be more clinical in from of goal," continued Coach Kern.
"Our Mental focus is improving, but we are looking to increase the speed of our defensive transition," ended Coach Kern. "We will look better tomorrow."
Faraz Arif led the team with six shots, as the Warriors look to turn things around tomorrow when they compete in day two of the tournament and take on MUW at 2 pm.
