Women's Volleyball Drops a Pair at UT Tyler Tournament

Tyler, TX - The Hendrix College Women's Volleyball team opened the second weekend of the 2017 season in Tyler, TX for a double header during day one of the UT Tyler Tournament. The Warriors started the weekend off against The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor and ended with a match against the host UT Tyler.

The Warriors fought hard against the Crusaders, opening each set strong before Mary Hardin-Baylor was able to pull away late. Hendrix's offense was strong in set number one, unfortunately the second set was not nearly as productive.

On the other hand Mary Hardin-Baylor was hitting well all evening, only just barley dropping the third set.

Six different Warriors ended the match with multiple kills, including a team high ten from senior Hannah Tackett, who also added three blocks. Sophomore Sesalie Satterwhite paced the Warriors with 19 assists, while fellow sophomore Lauren Dwyer continued her stellar defensive play with 25 digs.

Freshman Maddie Tovar also had a very strong match, finishing with eight kills and six digs. The loss dropped Hendrix to 1-4 as they turned right around with a match against UT Tyler.

The Warriors offensive struggles continued in the second match of the night, but Hendrix's defense stepped up in a big way against the Patriots.

The Warriors accumulated 16 total team blocks, while Tackett led the way with assisting on five. Satterwhite finished with a double-double, dishing out 22 assists and earning 14 digs.

Hannah Moore ended with 21 digs. Senior Lauren Petrisin led the offense with 13 kills, as seven different Warriors earned at least two kills.

The loss drops Hendrix to 1-5 on the season as they will wrap up the two day tournament tomorrow afternoon taking on Hardin-Simmons University at 10:00 am and the UT Dallas at 2:00 pm.
