Conway, AR - The Hendrix women's basketball team played host to Centre College Friday night. Entering play Hendrix sported a record of 11-5 with a 3-2 SAA conference record.Â
The Warriors played tough against the Colonels right out of the gate holding a 13-12 lead after the first quarter.Â
The Colonels came out in the second quarter looking to take the lead. However, a little over mid-way through the half the Hendrix lead had grown to seven. The Warriors would continue to respond under pressure and after
Leah Boehl free-throws they would go into halftime up five (29-24).
In the first two quarters, Boehl already sat in the double figures with 12 points and two rebounds. She also recorded two steals while
Vinessa Daniel finished the half with five points.
The Warriors maintained their lead throughout the third quarter finishing with a 44-43 lead. HC would ultimately take the 72-65 victory.
"We did a very good job of attacking the basket tonight," said Head Coach
Drew Gaeng. "We played with a great deal of consistency on the offensive end and executed really well. We took care of the ball and had a bunch of quality possessions."
Daniel ended in double figures finishing with a stat line of 23 points, two rebounds,and one steal; she also added two assists on the day. Boehl also led the team with 22 points and contributed three boards.
Heather Prowse,also finished with 12 points.
The win improves Hendrix to 12-5 overall and 4-2 in the SAA conference.
The Warriors will return to action this Sunday when they host Sewanee in another SAA conference match-up at 1Â PM.
