Warriors Keep Winning Streak Going with Win Against Colonels

Danville, KY - The Hendrix women's basketball team traveled to Centre College Friday evening. The Warriors entered play with an overall record of 13-5 and a SAA conference record of 5-2.

The Warriors came out of the gate hot as they stoked themselves to a 7-0 lead early in the first quarter. However, the Colonels would be the ones to hold a 16-11 lead entering the second quarter.

Centre would hold onto the lead and would be up by two over Hendrix with under three minutes left the quarter. Hendrix responded and ended the quarter knotting the game up 25-25. Madison Martin recorded 12 points through two quarters of play. Martin also recorded four rebounds en route to her dominate play in the first half.

The Warriors traded baskets with Centre throughout the third quarter. The Warriors held a 45-34 lead over the Colonels at the end of the third quarter.

The fourth quarter saw the Warriors continue to grow their lead against the Colonels. Consistent scoring and solid defense allowed the Warriors to come away with the victory by a score of 62-45.

"There was great effort tonight," said Head Coach Drew Gaeng. "Especially on the glass. We did an awesome job of maintaining that effort and execution throughout the game."

Martin dominated the entire game recording 24 points and nine rebounds. Vinessa Daniel recorded 14 points and Leah Smith contributed eleven points to the cause. Heather Prowse dished out six assists in the win.

Hendrix will be back in action Sunday afternoon when they take on Sewanee in another SAA conference matchup at 1 PM.
