CONWAY, Ark - Hendrix looked to close out the regular season with a pair of contests Saturday as part of the 2018 Hendrix Warrior Invitational. The Warriors cruised past the Tigers of East Texas Baptist University in straight sets before falling to No. 16 University of Texas-Tyler in three sets. Now that the regular season has concluded, the Warriors will look to face No. 6 Millsaps in the opening round of the 2018 Southern Athletic Association Volleyball Tournament.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Match 1
- The first set was back and forth until a kill by freshman
Sadie Walker opened up a 8-1 run for the Warriors. Hendrix would win the first set 25-16.
- The Tigers were able to keep the second set close until kills from
Allison Long and
Brianna Kelly increased the late set lead to 22-17 for Hendrix. Set two would belong to the Warriors 25-18.
- Leading by just two midway through the third set, the Warriors went on to win the next four points and six of the next seven to take a commanding 19-14 lead en rout to a 25-18 third set victory resulting in yet another straight-set win for the Warriors.
- Junior
Lauren Dwyer recorded a team high of 12 kills.

Claire Smith recorded 20 assists in the three set sweep.
- An all-around game with 12 digs, three assists and two aces by
Jeanette McGrath helped Hendrix to hold the Tigers to just a .12% attack percentage.
Match 2
- UT-Tyler recorded a .378 attack percentage to take the first set 25-19.
- The Warriors were able to take an 8-4 lead with a block from Allison Long and Sadie Walker in the second set.
- A couple of aces and kills from the Patriots allowed them to gain the lead back and win the second set 25-19.
- After a 6-6 start in the third set, Lauren Dwyer helped the Warriors win the next four points by recording an ace and a kill.
- A 4-0 run late in the third set would ultimately allow the Patriots to take the third set 25-23.
- Lauren Dwyer recorded another double-double match with team leading kills (10) and digs (13).
- Amber Melcher and Clarie Smith added a combined 30 assists on the day.
UP NEXT
Now that the Warriors have finished the entire 2018 regular season, all eyes are set on the postseason. Hendrix will enter the 2018 SAA Championship Tournament as the No. 3 seed which leads to a showdown against No. 6 seed Millsaps Nov. 2 from Rome, Ga. The start time of the match is to be decided relatively soon.
