Hendrix Tops Majors to Reach SAA Semifinals

ROME, Ga. - After defeating the Majors in three sets in both Jackson, Miss. and in Conway, Hendrix faced Millsaps in the quarterfinals of the 2018 Southern Athletic Association Volleyball Championships Friday for the second time ever in conference history. After jumping out to a 25-19 set one victory, Hendrix managed to sweep its 15th opponent of the 2018 season (25-19, 26-24, 25-19) and clinch yet another spot in the semifinals of the SAA Volleyball Tournament. With the win, the Warriors improve to 20-7 on the year.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- After taking the opening set 25-19, the Warriors started the second set on a 5-0 run, forcing Millsaps to utilize a timeout.
- Trailing 24-23 in the second set, Hendrix netted a 3-0 run to take the second set 26-24 capped off by a kill from senior Brianna Kelly.
- Leading by just one at 7-6, the Warriors landed a nice 7-0 run to take a commanding 13-6 lead in the third frame.
- After being named All-SAA Second Team, sophomore Allison Long's kill gave Hendrix yet another straight-set victory and yet another quarterfinal postseason victory.
- After recording 11 digs and 12 kills, junior Lauren Dwyer landed her 10th double-double of the season.
- Long converted seven kills on 16 total attacks for a .375 attack percentage rate for the night.
- With the victory, Hendrix has recorded a 20-win season for the fifth time in the last six seasons.

UP NEXT
After clinching its sixth-straight SAA semifinals berth, the Warriors will look to break the season series tie against Birmingham-Southern after both teams won on the road in the regular season. Hendrix battles the Panthers at 5 p.m. CT from Rome, Ga. Saturday.
