RICHARDSON, Texas - The Hendrix men's basketball team opened the 2018-19 season Saturday in Texas when the Warriors took on the Comets of Texas-Dallas. After allowing 58 points in the second half, the Warriors recorded just 28 points in the second half as UT-Dallas downed Hendrix (0-1), 104-60, Saturday afternoon in Richardson, Texas. The Comets, which finished 19-8 overall and 14-4 in the ASC a year ago, ended up making 41 baskets en rout to its 44-point victory in a game that served as UT-Dallas' Homecoming.

TURNING POINT
- The Comets were able to knock down a pair of three-pointers and hold Hendrix scoreless for the first 3:46 of the game before sophomore guard
Kam Brasfield put Hendrix on the board; trailing 12-2.
OF NOTE
- Trailing 35-20 late in the opening half, Brasfield nailed a tough trifecta but the Comets hit a three of its own just 30 seconds later to take another 15-point lead.
- Following junior guard
Trace Crawford's successful beyond-the-arc make, Brasfield hit a pair of free throws and freshman forward
Carl Fitch registered the last four points for the Warriors before the half; highlighting a 9-2 run by the Warriors as Hendrix trailed 46-34 at the break.
- A 15-2 run by the home team nearly midway through the second half allowed the Comets to take a 70-39 lead with 12:28 left in regulation.
- Freshman forward
Jake Riding knocked in his three points with 9:48 to go then registered a defensive board just 25 seconds later after a missed three-pointer by UT-Dallas.
- Sophomore guard
Trey Rouse nailed three of his six points at the 7:21 mark in the second half after connecting from deep but an 11-2 run to close out the last 3:39 from the Comets allowed for a 104-60 victory for the home team.
- Fitch produced a team-best 14 points in his first collegiate basketball game; also pulled down three rebounds.
- Brasfield and Rouse combined for 15 points, three assists and three three-pointer makes while sophomore guard
Jack Eaton logged six points including 4-for-4 at the charity stripe in eight minutes of action.
- Junior guard
Jacob Link and freshman forward
Seth Stanley added five points apiece and combined for five rebounds and five-for-five at the free throw line.
- As a unit, Hendrix shot 22-of-26 (84.6%) for the game while the Comets shot just 50.0% (9-of-18). The 84.6% free throw mark is the highest free throw shooting percentage by the Warriors since Dec. 4, 2016 against Rust from Conway (7-of-7; 100%).

Now with its first regular season game under its belt, Hendrix will shift its focus to another exhibition contest when the Warriors stay in-state to take on NCAA Division II University of Arkansas-Fort Smith Tuesday at 2 p.m. from Fort Smith, Ark.
