Conway, AR - The Hendrix College men's basketball team returned to action this evening, hosting Millsaps in a SAA match-up.
Hendrix came into the game with a record of 5-18, 3-9 SAA.
The Majors were able to hold onto their lead in the second half and pull out the victory 78-73.
Millsaps took a 41-29 lead into the half.
Preston Smith led the way for the Warriors with ten first half points.
Jacob Link chipped in with nine points and three rebounds in the first half.
Hendrix's
Michael Calamese also added to the scoring at the half with four points, going 2-4 from the field.
The Majors opened up the second half on a 5-0 run to add to their lead and they would not relinquish the lead the entire half, fighting off each charge the Warriors would put up.Â
Millsaps built the lead to as many 17 points 48-31 with just over 18 minutes remaining.
Link led all scorers with 20 points, going 6-12 from the field. He also had six rebounds.
The Warriors also got 15 points from Smith and 14 from Calamese.
Hendrix was also led by
Trey Rouse who finished with 12 points. Rouse did half of his scoring from the outside as he was 2-5 from three-point range.
Rebounding was a huge factor in the game as Millsaps owned the glass, out-rebounding the Warriors 42-29, which led to a 14-4 edge in second chance points.
The loss brings Hendrix to 5-19, 3-10 SAA.
Hendrix returns to action this Saturday when they travel to Rhodes College for their SAA regular season finale. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:00 pm.
