Memphis, TN - The Hendrix Warriors traveled to Memphis, TN Saturday afternoon to take on the Lynx of Rhodes. It was a tough affair between the two, and a late surge with less than five minutes left proved to not be enough for HC as the Lynx defeated the Warriors 115-112.
The first half saw seven ties and five lead changes between the two. At the end of the half RC however, would end up leading by 18.
Hendrix came out of the gate firing in the first, with a bucket from
Sean Criswell and made free-throws from
Preston Smith giving the Warriors a quick 5-0 lead. The two teams traded shots and Rhodes would take the lead midway through the first half.
The lead would go back and forth between the two teams until Rhodes turned their offense to high and would take a 67-49 lead into the break.
The two once again played to a stalemate for a majority of the second half, this time with the game seeing six more ties and four lead changes in the second half. The largest lead of the half for Hendrix was five which came with 2:31 left in the game.
Over the final 2:07 of the second half, the Lynx finished the contest on an 11-3 run to capture a 115-112 win.
Kam Brasfield (26) and Smith (22) led the Warriors offensively, with Smith hitting a team-high four three-point shots.
Jacob Link added 19 points and 13 rebounds as Hendrix fell to 5-20 overall and 3-11 in SAA play.
Hendrix will compete in the SAA Conference Tournament on Friday, February 23 when they take on the #2 seeded Sewanee. Hendrix will enter the tournament as the #7 seed.
