Memphis, TN - The Hendrix women's basketball team traveled to take on Rhodes Saturday afternoon for a SAA conference match-up. Entering play the Warriors held a record of 17-7 and a conference record of 9-4. Tonight's game was the last regular season game before the SAA Conference Tournament.
The first quarter was a tight affair with Hendrix holding a slim advantage over Rhodes 24-22.
In the second quarter the Warriors maintained their lead 33-31 going into the half.
Leah Smith finished the first half with eleven points and three rebounds.
Maddie Anderson pulled down four rebounds and
Vinessa Daniel notched six points.
The third quarter would go much of the same as the first two. Rhodes would try to storm ahead but Hendrix would hold a four point lead over Rhodes with minutes to go in the third quarter. Hendrix continued to keep the pressure on and led the Lynx 46-42 at the end of the third.
The Warriors struggled offensively as the fourth quarter went on and Rhodes capitalized on this and built a 51-46 lead. Unfortunately for Hendrix they would go on to fall to Rhodes by a score of 67-57.
Smith recorded 14 points and four rebounds in the loss.
Madison Martin also put up 13 points and five rebounds while
Heather Prowse added nine points to the cause.
The loss drops Hendrix to 17-8 overall and 9-5 in conference.
The Warriors will be back in action this Friday. They will take on Birmingham Southern in the first round of the SAA Conference Tournament. Hendrix will go into the tournament as the #3 seed.
