Conway, AR - The Hendrix College women's basketball team faced off with Birmingham Southern this evening in an SAA match-up. This was a very special game as the Warriors honored their four seniors to begin the game in
Leah Smith,
Madison Martin,
Heather Prowse, and
Sara Dyslin.
The Panthers, fresh off a loss to SAAÂ team Sewanee, came out firing on all cylinders in the first half.
Birmingham Southern jumped out to a 14-11 lead at the end of the first quarter but would find their lead taken away as HC would hold the lead (33-23) heading into the halftime break.
The second half was a much of the same story. Birmingham Southern outscored the Warriors 21-13 in the third quarter however HC would still hold lead by two points. HC would then cruise to a 66-60 win.
The win improves Hendrix to 16-7, 8-4 SAA and they are currently in second place in the conference. Â
Hendrix got huge contributions from all five starters in the win. Senior Martin scored a team high 14 points, and had six rebounds.
Vinessa Daniel had a strong game, scoring 12 points and grabbing four rebounds.Â
Leah Boehl had eleven points, and Smith and Prowse had seven and six points respectively.
The Warriors were also led by
Amber Turner who had five points.
Whitney Woods finished with five points and
Kessie Jenkins had four points in the win.
Hendrix will host this Sunday, taking on Millsaps at 1 pm.
