Warriors Drop a Game to Majors

Conway, AR - The Hendrix baseball team was home this afternoon as they welcomed the final SAA match-up of the weekend against Millsaps. The Warriors, coming off  two losses to Millsaps from the doubleheader the day before, owned a 4-10 overall, 2-3 SAA record.

The game got started a few minutes early hoping to avoid the incoming rain. The Majors wasted no time getting their first run across in the top of the first inning to take a quick lead.

The Majors looked to keep the runs coming in the top of the second inning as they would score again to take the 2-0 lead.

The Majors were able to strike again in the third inning taking the 3-0 lead.

Hendrix was looking to respond in their half of the third and did just that. Layton Burge reached base on a double to left field. Burge would advance to third on the next play followed with a walk to put runners on first and third with two outs. Tanner Cooper would single to right field and bring home Burge to cut into their defect 3-1.

The sixth inning saw Millsaps capitalize on opportunity and take control of the game as the Majors gained a 8-1 advantage.

Hendrix struck again in the bottom of the sixth inning scoring a run with one out to bring the score to 8-2 in favor of MC.

Millsaps again got back on the board in the top half of the ninth with two runs brining the score to 10-2 heading in to the bottom of the frame.

The Warriors would get one more run across but it would not be enough as they would take the 10-3 loss. Cooper and Burge both record three hits for Hendrix.

At the end of the day the Warriors record dropped to 4-11 overall, 2-4 SAA. Hendrix will return to action with a doubleheader against non-conference opponent, Grinnell.  The Warriors will host Saturday March 17th.
