Warriors Earn Split in Non-Conference Contest

Conway, AR - The Hendrix Warriors baseball team played their last doubleheader their two day match-up against Grinnell College Sunday morning. The Warriors 6-11 took on Grinnell coming off of two wins against them yesterday.

Evan Orren got the start on the hill in game one for the Warriors. Hendrix would get on the board quickly in this one. Seth Tucker singled to start out the bottom half of the first and then stole second. He then stole third and scored on a Ford Sherrington single. Sherrington would score next from a Drew Judson double. After getting one more run Hendrix led 3-0 after the first inning of play.

In the bottom of the second inning Hendrix would score five more runs. They put together three hits in the inning and led the Pioneers 8-0 after the bottom half of the second.

Hendrix added five more runs in the bottom of the third courtesy of six hits. They led Grinnell 13-0 through the top half of the fourth.

In the bottom of the fourth the Warriors struck again. Tucker would get hit by a pitch and then advance to second on a wild pitch. Jorge Leon would bring him home on a single. The Warriors would hold the 14-0 lead and would ultimately take the 14-0 game one victory.

Sherrington recorded three hits, three RBI's and three runs including a homerun in the contest. Leon added three RBIs along with Josh Walker who also had three.

The win brought Hendrix to 7-11 on the year.

Hayden Seay took the mound in game two for Hendrix. The offense for Grinnell got going early.  After the top of the second the Pioneers led 3-0.

Hendrix got two runs back in the bottom of the third inning but still trailed Grinnell 3-2 after three.

In the top of the fourth Grinnell got their offense going again. The Pioneers led 4-2 going into the top of the fifth.

Grinnell added another run in the fifth and held the 5-2 advantage.

Hendrix inched closer in the bottom of the fifth, scoring one run and closing the gap to 5-3.

In the top of the sixth Grinnell would score two more runs, putting the Pioneers up 7-3.

Hendrix was able to get two more runs across but it wasn't enough. The Pioneers claimed victory of game two 7-5.

Jake Wiegand had three hits and one RBI in the game. Judson knocked two base hits in the contest and had two RBIs.

The Warriors will return to action Tuesday when they take on Harding University on the road.
