Searcy - AR - The Warriors hit the field today in a non-conference road game. The team got to take on the Harding University Bisons in a single nine inning contest. Hendrix entered at 7-12 after splitting a doubleheader with Grinnell on Sunday.
A high scoring affair saw the Warriors fall short and drop the contest by a score of 10-9.
The Warriors wasted no time pushing runs across the plate as they scored a run in the first inning to jump out to an early lead. A run in the third from the Bisons would tie the game up at 1-1.
The Warriors got themselves right back into the lead by scoring in the fourth inning. Hendrix got their run on one hit.
Josh Walker reached on a double and advanced to third on a wild pitch. A
Jake Wiegand sacrifice fly brought Walker home and put HC up 2-1.
Harding did most of their damage in the bottom of the fourth putting up four runs on two hits to take the lead 5-2.
The Warriors looked to continue their scoring efforts in the fifth after
Seth Tucker got the inning started with a single to center field. Tucker would then steal second and then third.
Tanner Cooper was able to drive in the run with an RBI single and after one more run Hendrix was right back in it with the score 5-4.
In the bottom of the fifth inning the Bisons bats struck again with another run extending their lead to 6-4. The sixth, seventh, eighth and ninth innings saw Hendrix drive home five total runs to tie the game up at 9-9 and send them into extra innings. The Bisons pushed across a run in the tenth to put the final at 10-9.
Hendrix dropped to 7-13 on the season. Supplying the offense for the Warriors was Cooper who had three hits in five at-bats and Walker with two hits, two runs, and one RBI.
The Warriors get a much needed three days off to regroup and will face off with Berry Friday, March 23rd. Games time is TBA.
