Offense Shines for Warriors in Win Over Eagles

Conway, AR - The Warriors baseball team hosted non-conference foe Ozarks for a match-up this evening.  Hendrix's record sat at 7-16 overall heading into play.  

The Warriors offense shined as they totaled three runs to move their way past Ozarks 3-0.  The wins improves their record to 8-16 overall.

The game saw the Warriors break out the bats early by tallying a run in the first inning. Jorge Leon started the inning off getting walked. Drew Judson then singled out to center field to advance Leon to second. Ford Sherrington would fly out to center and Leon would advance to third on the play. Jake Wiegand then hit single to right field to bring home Leon and give the Warriors a quick 1-0 lead.

More bats got involved in the fourth inning as the Warriors put two runs on the board and took complete control of the game. Gerard Russo smashed a double that scored Sean Dehne and Josh Walker to to give HC the 3-0 lead and ultimately the 3-0 victory.  

Ozarks had no answer for Warriors starter Seth Tucker. Tucker dominated, going eight strong innings allowing no runs on just five hits while striking out five batters. The win improved his record to 2-1 and his ERA dropped to just a 0.48.

The offense was strong and saw contributions across the board. Russo led the way driving two of the three runs on a double. Dehne contributed three hits a run scored. Judson also added two hits.

The team has a quick turnaround as they visit SAA Conference rival Sewanee this Friday, March 30th. The game will being at 2:00 pm.
