Warriors Suffer Loss in Non-Conference Match-Up

Conway, AR - The Hendrix Warriors baseball team was back in action Tuesday afternoon when they took on Harding University. The Warriors entered play with a 4-7 record. 

Hayden Seay got the start on the mound for the Warriors. The bottom of the first was kind to Hendrix as the Warriors were able to take a quick 1-0 lead over Harding.

 The Bisons were able to strike in the top half of the second inning and as a result led Hendrix 3-1 after their part of the second.

Hendrix struck again in the bottom of the second inning, scoring one run. They trailed 3-2 to the Bisons going into the third inning.

In the top of the third the Bisons were able to get two more runs across to take the 5-2 lead.

Hendrix struck again courtesy of a error in the third. This cut the HU lead to 5-3 going into the fourth inning.

The Warriors were determined to crack more into the run column. In the bottom of the fourth Jorge Leon was walked and then was able to steal a base. Ford Sherrington promptly smashed a double, scoring Leon from second. The Warriors now trailed 5-4.

In the bottom of the fifth JR McAuley and Seth Tucker would each earn an RBI for Hendrix and put them up over the Bisons 6-5.

The top of the sixth inning was tough for the Warriors. Harding scored a run on one hit. There was one error in the inning and after all was said and done Harding tied the game up 6-6.

In the top of the seventh HU would score another run. After six full the Warriors trailed 7-6.

Harding scored two more runs in the top of the eighth off of two hits. The score sat at 9-6 in favor of Harding.

The Warriors fought back in the bottom of the eighth and ninth innings scoring two runs. It would not be enough for the Warriors however, as they lost the contest by a score of 9-8 and dropped to 4-8 on the young season.

Austin Pierce takes the loss for Hendrix and drops to 1-1 on the season. Sherrington and McAuley had three and two RBI's respectively for the Warriors.

The Warriors will be back in action Saturday when they take on Millsaps at home in a doubleheader with the first game starting at 1 p.m.
