Conway, AR -Â The Hendrix College baseball team was back in action Friday afternoon in a doubleheader date with Millsaps College. The Majors were able to take both games from the Warriors (8-2) and (10-9).
Game one was played tough between the two sides, with both offenses looking to strike hard. The Majors started things off in the top of the first by putting one run on the board.
Millsaps would add to that run in the top half of the third as they would take a 3-0 lead over HC.
The Warriors bats heated up considerably in the sixth inning. It was a two run sixth that started when
Tanner Cooper doubled knocking home
Jorge Leon and JR McAuley for two RBI's. These runs would cut the HC deficit to 3-2.
Things would not get any better for HC though, as they would ultimately fall 8-2 in game one.
The Warriors finished with six hits as a team, with Leon and Cooper accounting for two and one hits respectively. Sophomore
Evan Orren got the start for the Warriors on the mound, giving up three earned and striking out three.
Game number two followed a different script to game one, as Hendrix was able to jump out to an early lead. After four the Warriors were up 6-2 and the Majors found themselves with an uphill climb.
The Majors were able to get more runs on the board in the top of the fifth to cut into the Warriors lead. However, that momentum was short lived as Hendrix answered with a three run fifth to grow their lead to 9-4.
Millsaps continued to threaten the Warriors, loading the bases in both the sixth and seventh innings respectively. Unfortunately MC's offense would be too much for HC to handle as the Majors fought back to claim a game two 10-9 victory.
Leon finished game two crossing home plate on four different occasions while Cooper and
Drew Judson both had three hits and one RBI as Hendrix fell to 4-10 overall, 2-3 SAA. Hendrix will be back at home on Saturday, March 10 when they host Millsaps again for a single game. First pitch is scheduled for 11:30 am.
