Warriors Fall in Doubleheader to Rhodes

Memphis, TN - The Hendrix Warriors were back in action Sunday afternoon in another SAA conference match-up. The Warriors who were 12-22 overall and 4-12 in SAA conference play looked to face Rhodes College.

Taylor Barker started game one for the hill for Hendrix.

The Warriors wasted no time getting the scoring started in this one. In the top of the first Jorge Leon would double to right center to open the game. He would then advance to third on a Drew Judson ground out. Tanner Cooper came up next and he would also ground out but Leon would score on the play. After adding another run the Warriors took a 2-0 lead after the top of the first. 

Rhodes answered back with runs in the bottom of the first and second and three runs in the bottom of the third. After three full innings of play the Warriors trailed 5-2.

In the top of the fourth Josh Walker was hit by a pitch. Layton Burge then came up and doubled and then advanced to third on the throw which scored Walker. Burge would then score on a wild pitch. Hendrix now trailed 5-4.

The Lynx scored another run in the bottom of the fourth and led Hendrix 6-4.

Hendrix got three runs in the top of the seventh to take the lead back. Jake Wiegand walked and Judson scored him getting walked himself. After two more runs Hendrix now led 7-6.

Rhodes added three runs in the bottom of the seventh taking the lead back and ultimately the 9-7 game one victory.

Burge was 2-4 with one RBI and Cooper went 1-4 with two RBIs of his own.

Hayden Seay got the call on the mound in game two for the Warriors.

The Lynx got on the board early in this one.  After the Lynx half of the second they led 4-0.

Hendrix came back with four runs of their own in the top of the third. This would tie Hendrix and Rhodes up at 4-4 entering the fourth inning.

The Lynx took the lead back in the bottom of the fourth courtesy of six runs. The score sat at 10-4 heading into the top of the fifth.

Again Hendrix answered back with a run of their own in the top of the fifth. However, this would be the last run HC would score in the game as they would fall 12-5 in game two.

Wiegand was 2-4 in the game with one RBI. Ford Sherrington and Walker each had two RBIs. Cooper was 2-4 at the dish with two runs scored.

The Warriors are now 12-24 overall and 4-14 in SAA conference play.

Hendrix will be back in action Thursday when they take on the number one seeded Berry in the opening round of the SAA Conference Tournament. Hendrix will enter the tournament as the eight seed.
