Conway, AR - The Hendrix baseball team hit the field in a SAA Conference match-up against the Stormy Petrels of Oglethorpe University. The Warriors are coming off a non-conference win, defeating East Texas Baptist three days before to see their record move to 10-19 overall.Â
A slight adjustment was made to game time due to weather and out of the gates it looked to be a tough game as Oglethorpe would get on the board first win a run in the top of the first.
Jorge Leon would get it going for HC by starting off getting walked. This was followed by
Ford Sherrington also getting walked and advancing Leon to second.Â
Jake Wiegand did his job and drove Leon in with the first hit of the afternoon for HC.
The Warriors offense gained some more life in the third inning putting three runs up. HC would then fall behind as OU would score four more runs to take the win 5-4.Â
The Warriors finished the game with seven hits.Â
A bright spot on the day for Hendrix came from sophomore
Sean Dehne who had two total hits including a two run home run and played a solid right field.
The loss leaved the Warriors with a 10-20, 3-10 SAA record.Â
Hendrix will not get much of a break as they will have a doubleheader tomorrow against Oglethorpe University. Game one is scheduled to start at 11 a.m.Â
