Warriors Shut Out Second Opponent in Five Days Behind Cannon, Griffith

CONWAY, Ark. - Following a nice 2-0 shutout in Clarksville against University of the Ozarks last week and suffering a 1-0 setback to Westminster College on Sunday, Hendrix looked to get back to the winning side of things with a date against Howard Payne Monday evening. Two goals by senior forward Evie Cannon and a goal and assist from junior forward Hagan Griffith and the Warriors managed to record its second shutout in the last five days with the 4-0 win over the Yellow Jackets Monday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Cannon put the Orange & Black up 1-0 2:13 into the game. The goal was unassisted.
- While taking a 1-0 lead into the break, freshman Stella Krone notched her first goal of the season in the 50th minute from an assist by Griffith.
- The Springdale, Ark. native in Cannon found the back of the net once again to put Hendrix up 3-0 in the 56th minute, this time from Griffith yet again.
- Griffith all but iced the game away as she was fouled by HPU's goalie in the penalty box. One play later, Griffith landed her team-best fourth goal of the season en route to the 4-0 victory over the Yellow Jackets.
- Sophomore goalie Laycee Carpenter landed her first true shutout of the season after the combined shutout last Thursday against the Eagles.
- Griffith also leads the team now in points (12), assists (4), shots (29) and shots on goal (13).

WHAT WAS SAID
"I felt like we played well today," said Head Coach Jeff Trimble following the shutout victory. "We created a lot of good scoring chances and it was nice to see us convert. Griffith and Cannon combined and played really well together up top and it was also nice to see our defenders and Carpenter get a shut out."
