CONWAY, Ark. - Following a tough 2-1 setback to Howard Payne on Monday in Conway, the Warriors looked to get back to the winning side of things as they hosted Louisiana College in the last game of the season-best five-game home stand to open the season. After taking a 2-0 lead into the break on Thursday, Hendrix would give up two goals to the Wildcats in the second half to force overtime at Warrior Soccer Field. Junior forward
Safin Attwal became the true hero of the day as he struck a rebound past the goal keeper into the net for the 3-2 Hendrix victory in the first overtime period of the match.

Carson Stephenson teamed up on an assist to Junior

- The Wildcats outshot Hendrix 23 to 13 on the day but it was the Warriors who made the best of its opportunities; recording seven of its 13 shots on goal.

WHAT WAS SAID
"I am really proud of the group to win an early season overtime match," stated Head Coach
Matt Kern. Even though we were up 2-0 at halftime, I thought Louisiana College had the better of possession in the first half and created some problems for us. We lost our defensive shape a handful of times in the second half and were rightfully punished. I am also really happy for
Eli Brizendine,
Abe Studor, and Safan Attwal to get their first collegiate goals. We have a quick turn around with a neutral match in Memphis tomorrow and will look to build on this performance."
UP NEXT
Hendrix will look for its fourth win of the season in a non-conference match against Mississippi University for Women Friday. The Warriors finished the entire regular season with three wins in each of the last two seasons. A four-win season would be the most wins in Warrior Men's Soccer history since the 2013 season. The Warriors take on MUW at 2 p.m. in Memphis, Tenn.
