CONWAY, Ark. – Hendrix looked to get back to its winning ways with the Southern Athletic Association conference opener against Centre from Young-Wise Memorial Stadium in Conway Saturday. The Colonels (3-0, 1-0 SAA) managed to eclipse 500 yards of total offense en route to its 45-6 win over Hendrix (1-2, 0-1 SAA). Sophomore
Kip VanHoose led the way on the ground for the Orange & Black with 100 yards on the day; his second game this season (three games) to reach the 100-yard mark.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- After a successful 25-yard field goal try from Senior
Sandy Burks on its opening drive to take an early 3-0 lead, the Colonels managed to score touchdowns on three of its first five possessions to take a 21-3 lead midway through the second quarter.
- Burks was successful again, this time from 33 yards out with seconds to go before halftime; improves to 5-for-5 on field goal tries for the 2018 season.
- Centre outscored Hendrix 24-0 in the second half to win the game, 45-6.
OFFENSIVE NOTABLES:
- Junior
Mason Doerr passed for a career-best 125 yards on 13 completions.
- In addition to VanHoose's rushing performance, freshman
Austin O'Brien 15 yards on five carries.
- Sophomore wide out
Blake Hinton registered a team-best 30 yards on a pair of receptions.
- Senior
Michael Spainhour caught four passes for 26 yards.
DEFENSIVE NOTABLES:

Chandler Marquardt recorded a game-high nine total tackles on the day; also added a sack for a loss of five yards.
- Sophomores
Jayven Mohetau and
Tanner Hartsfield each added seven tackles apiece.
-Freshman
Jacob Bremmon recorded the lone interception for Hendrix, returning it for three yards.
SPECIAL TEAMS NOTABLES:
- Senior punter
Garrett Wolf finished with 300 yards on eight punts (37.5 average) and landed one inside the opponent's 20-yard line. Wolf's long on the day was a 52-yarder.
- Despite this statistic not being visible to fans from the box score, Wolf managed to force a fumble on a punt return which was recovered soon by Marquardt.
- VanHoose returned three kick-off's for a total of 64 yards.
- With Burks' two successful field goal tries Saturday, Hendrix is one of two teams in the SAA who has not missed a field goal for the 2018 season (Austin College).
