Panthers' Second Half Surge Powers BSC Past Warriors

CONWAY, Ark. – Taking a three-point lead into the intermission Sunday afternoon, Hendrix only carved up 27 points in the final 20 minutes of action as Birmingham-Southern recorded 40 points in the paint en route a 74-61 win over the Warriors from Conway. Hendrix drops to 9-7 on the season and 2-3 in SAA play while BSC improves to 6-10 and 3-2 in conference action. Sophomore guard Vinessa Daniel pulled down a team-best 10 rebounds against the Panthers.

TURNING POINT
Trailing by 6 with over 3 minutes to go in the third frame, the Panthers ended the quarter on a 9-0 run to take a 46-43 lead with 10 minutes of action left. Hendrix failed to score for the final 3:39 of the third period.

OF NOTE
- Sophomore Kessie Jenkins recorded an old fashioned three-point play with 1:46 to go in the opening frame to give Hendrix its largest lead of the game (10).
- A three-pointer near the end of the opening frame by freshman guard Sarah Vogel gave Hendrix a 21-15 lead after one.
- An 8-3 BSC run to open the second period produced a timeout from Warrior Head Coach Drew Gaeng
- Daniel launched and made a three-pointer as the first half expired to give Hendrix a 34-31 edge at the break.
- Trailing by three after three quarters, BSC scored a game-best 28 points in the fourth quarter and limited Hendrix to 18 as the Panthers took the victory, 74-61.
- In addition to the 10 rebounds, Daniel logged five assists and five points as well. 
- Jenkins scored seven points and pulled down five rebounds in 32 minutes of work. 
- Freshman forward Jayla King made at least six field goals in a game for the fifth time this season after shooting 6-for-12 and producing a team-high 16 points and nine boards off the bench.
- Freshman guard Macy Moody added 13 points off the bench including a 3-for-9 mark from three-point territory.
- Despite shooting a perfect 10-for-10 at the charity stripe, Hendrix shot 21-of-65 from the floor and 9-of-26 (34.6%) while BSC shot 29-for-60 from the floor, 5-of-16 from deep and a 11-for-13 mark at the free throw line.

Now with its first weekend of SAA play inside the confines of Grove Gymnasium complete, the Warriors will remain inside The Grove for two more pivotal SAA contests.
