Vikings Top Warriors Late in SAA Tilt

CONWAY, Ark. – In a game that saw both teams sustain double-digit leads for the final three periods, Berry (6-11, 2-4 SAA) outscored the Warriors (9-8, 2-4 SAA) 30-10 in the final 10 minutes to comeback and defeat the Warriors inside Grove Gymnasium, 69-64. Vikings managed to shoot 9-of-20 (45%) from deep en route to the road win. Sophomore guard Vinessa Daniel recorded 12 points, a team-best nine dimes and seven rebounds against the Vikings.

TURNING POINT
- After Hendrix sustained an 18-point lead with 30 seconds left in the third period, Berry registered a 22-3 run over the next five-plus minutes to take a 58-57 advantage.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- In a game of runs, Berry jumped out to an early 8-0 lead before Hendrix recorded an 8-0 run of its own to tie the game halfway through the opening quarter.
- Vikings carved up another 8-0 run to take a 16-8 edge but an offensive rebound and four-straight points by freshman forward Jayla King brought Hendrix within four.
- A 7-0 run by the road team allowed for Berry to contain a 23-12 advantage after 10 minutes of play.
- Both teams combined to score three points in the opening four minutes of the second quarter; Warriors outscore Vikings 12-0 in the final 5:46 thanks to a three-pointer by freshman guard Serena Pruitt with four seconds left in the opening half. Hendrix led 27-26.
- A layup by sophomore forward Kessie Jenkins and a three-pointer by junior guard Amber Turner capped off a 6-2 run to start the third quarter by the home team to take a five-point lead (33-28) with 7:10 left in the period.
- Leading by 10 after a made three by Daniel, Hendrix carved up a quick 9-1 run thanks to a nice layup from senior forward Maddie Anderson. Hendrix held a game-best 18-point lead with 30 seconds left in the third period.
- Berry pulled within two points thanks to three three-pointers by the Vikings in the opening five points.
- Knotted up at 60-all with 4:06 to go in regulation, Berry accounted for the next seven points thanks to seven free throws.
- Hendrix scored four of the final six points but it was not enough as the Vikings held on for the 69-64 road win.

OF NOTE
- Freshman guard Macy Moody added 11 points and five rebounds in 25 minutes off the bench.
- Pruitt finished with a team-best 13 points on an efficient 5-of-10 shooting from the floor including 3-for-5 from beyond-the-arc.
- Anderson and Turner combined to account for 15 points and eight boards. 
- Daniel accounted for 82% (9-of-11) of Hendrix's total team assists Friday against Berry
- King finished with eight points and three rebounds off the bench while Jenkins tallied five points and three rebounds; Jenkins also shot an efficient 2-of-4 from the field.
- Hendrix shot 22-of-62 from the floor, 7-of-31 from deep and 13-for-17 (76.5%) at the charity stripe while the Vikings shot 18-of-42 from the floor, 9-of-20 from deep and a 24-of-33 (72.7%) mark at the free throw line.
