Timely Baskets Propel Warriors to Massive Victory over Petrels for Weekend Sweep

CONWAY, Ark. – Freshman forward Seth Stanley poured in a game-high 13 points on 5-of-13 shooting from the floor as Hendrix ( 8-10, 4-3 SAA) outscored Oglethorpe (9-9, 3-4 SAA) 32-27 in the opening 20 minutes of action en route to a 63-56 victory. With the win, the Warriors finish its season-long four-game conference home stand with a 3-1 record and have recorded its first Southern Athletic Association weekend sweep since February 2015.

TURNING POINT
Trailing by a pair of points with 3:09 til half, Hendrix scored seven of the next nine points to take a 32-27 advantage into the locker room at the intermission.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- After going back and forth for the opening three minutes, Hendrix held a four-point cushion with 16:05 left in the opening stanza. 
- Oglethorpe regained the lead with 9:42 off a jumper but sophomore guard Jack Eaton put the Warriors back in front after a made three-point basket with 7:54 left in the first half.
- Knotted up at 27-all with under a minute to go, Stanley recorded a 5-0 run all by himself including a rim-dazzling two-handed slam dunk as the first half expired as Hendrix held a 32-27 advantage.
- A trifecta by freshman guard Sean Coman with 16:10 left put Hendrix up seven; Coman's two free throw's moments later allowed for a nine-point Hendrix lead.
- A 4-0 run midway through the second half propelled the Warriors to a game-high 12-point lead with 10:47.
- An 8-0 by the Petrels brought Oglethorpe within two but that's as close as the road team would get as the Warriors ended the game on a 6-3 run to earn the 63-56 SAA victory.

OF NOTE
- Stanley led Hendrix in scoring for the fifth consecutive contest; longest streak in the Coach McCracken era; also added four rebounds against Oglethorpe.
- Coman accounted for 12 points including improving his already team-best 97.3% free throw shooting after going 4-for-4 Sunday.
- Freshman big man Carl Fitch, who came into the weekend fifth in the SAA in shooting percentage, shot 4-of-5 from the floor in an eight-point, six-rebound performance.
- Sophomore guard Jack Eaton logged his first multiple three-point make performance of the season after knocking down two three's in 20 minutes of work.
- Again, junior guard Jacob Link nearly carded his first double-double fo the season after exploding for nine points and a team-high 10 rebounds against the Petrels.
- The Warriors finished the afternoon shooting 20-of-52 (38.5%) from the floor, 5-of-20 (25%) from downtown and 18-for-23 (78.3%) from the charity stripe while 20-of-53 from the field, 7-for-20 from beyond the arc and 9-of-11 (81.8%) at the free throw line.
- Exactly half of the Warriors' field goals (20) came off an assist (10) as Hendrix recorded 10 team assists to the Petrels' seven. 
- Oglethorpe also recorded 14 team turnovers while Hendrix had just 11.

WHAT WAS SAID
"I thought tonight was a great team win,"stated Head Coach Thad McCracken following the big victory. "Obviously, the points were evenly distributed. I thought everyone guarded well and that everyone did their part on the glass. We assisted on half of our field goal makes. I'm really proud of our effort, really proud of their execution on both ends of the floor. I'm just excited and looking forward to continuing to build some momentum."

WHO'S NEXT
After landing their first regular season victory against Oglethorpe since the 2011-12 season, Hendrix will hit the road for a pivotal showdown at Berry and at Oglethorpe. First, the Warriors and the Vikings battle at 8 p.m. Friday night.
