Warriors Fall in Valiant Effort to Reigning National Champions

ATLANTA, Ga. - Friday afternoon, Hendrix hit the road to Atlanta, Ga. to take on the defending NCAA Division III national champions in the no. 1 nationally-ranked Emory Eagles. Emory, who had won 11 games entering Friday's contest against Hendrix, recorded the straight-set win over Hendrix Friday after the Warriors fell, 21-25, 23-25 and 17-25. Lauren Dwyer recorded yet another double-double after recording a team-high 10 kills and registering 12 digs against the Eagles. Hendrix drops to 14-4 on the year while Emory improves to 19-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Hendrix held the early 4-1 lead over the no. 1 ranked Eagles after kills from Mallory Carty and Sadie Walker but three 3-0 Eagle runs and a 6-0 run gave the home team the first set, 25-21.
- Emory scored the first five points of the second frame before Hendrix accounted for an 8-0 run to hold the 8-5 advantage.
- The Eagles put together a pair of 4-0 runs and a 3-0 run to take the second set, 25-23.
- Emory hit .225 with 15 kills in the third frame and limited Hendrix to an .154 attacking percentage as the Eagles took the set, 25-17, and ultimately the match.
- Jeanette McGrath recorded a game-high 16 digs while Kiersten Huitt hit .364 for the game with five kills on 11 total attacks.
- Sesalie Satterwhite and Claire Smith each finished with a team-best 12 assists against the defending national champions while Satterwhite recorded a pair of service aces as well.
- Dwyer picked up her 10th double-double of the season and also carded her fourth straight double-double after her 12-dig, 10-kill performance. 
- The Warriors (8-1 in the SAA) are currently second in the SAA after BSC (10-1 in the SAA) already played a pair of SAA games this week.

Hendrix remains on the road in Atlanta, Ga. as the Warriors battle Oglethorpe Saturday at 12 p.m. CT.
