Warriors Fall to No. 10 Berry in Four Sets Sunday

ROME, Ga. - One day after defeating Oglethorpe in three sets once again, the Warriors remained in Ga. with a classic Southern Athletic Association showdown versus no. 10 nationally ranked Berry from Rome, Ga. The Warriors dropped the first two sets before taking the third but ultimately fell in four sets (14-25, 17-25, 25-15, 10-25) to the Vikings Sunday. Hendrix drops to 15-5 on the year with a 9-2 mark in the SAA while Berry improves to 19-4 with a 10-2 mark in conference contests. Hendrix is currently in third place in the conference standings with two conference games left on the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Warriors trailed 20-12 in the first set before a 2-0 run capped off by a kill from Lauren Dwyer to pull Hendrix within six.
- Berry scored the final five points of the first set to take it, 25-14.
- Hendrix trailed 6-5 early in the second frame but a 7-0 Viking run gave Berry the 13-5 commanding lead; Berry took the set, 25-17.
- Hendrix recorded a 3-0 run and a 4-0 run to take a 7-2 lead in the third set and forced a Berry timeout.
- Leading 19-14, the Warriors recorded back-to-back 3-0 runs; capped off by kills from Maddie Tovar and Mallory Carty to take the set, 25-15.
- The Warriors hit a team-high .417 in the third set with 12 kills and just two errors in the huge set win for Hendrix.
- Berry ended up taking the final set, 25-10, after hitting .226 with 10 kills as the Vikings defeated Hendrix in four sets.
- Jeanette McGrath and Dwyer each accounted for 16 digs while Dwyer also had eight kills.
- Claire Smith finished with a team-high 17 assists while Sesalie Satterwhite added 16.
- Kiersten Huitt hit a team-best .385 Sunday with seven kills while Tovar added nine kills against the Vikings.

UP NEXT
After being on the road for the last five games, Hendrix returns to Conway to battle Birmingham-Southern Saturday at 1p.m. in the annual "Pink Out" game.
