Women's Soccer Takes Down Oglethorpe on Senior Day

CONWAY, Ark. - Looking to make a late push in the 2019 Southern Athletic Association standings with just two conference games left on the season entering Sunday, Hendrix battled Oglethorpe from Warrior Field Sunday afternoon. The Warriors scored two goals in the first half and that was all the Warriors needed as Hendrix defeated Oglethorpe, 2-0, in a game that also served as Senior Day; the three seniors were honored before kickoff. With the win, Hendrix improves to 7-6-5 with a 2-3-1 mark in the SAA while Oglethorpe falls to 9-6 on the season with a 1-5 mark in the conference.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Mary Helen VanHoy put Hendrix up 1-0 after scoring 98 seconds into the game off an assist from Kaitlyn Gilkey.
- Sydnee Pritchett scored her first collegiate goal in the 42nd minute to give Hendrix the 2-0 cushion.
- Leading 2-0 at the break, Anna Claire Lewis recorded two saves in the final 45 minutes as the Warriors blanked Oglethorpe, 2-0.
- Hendrix recorded 23 shots on the day with nine of them being on goal while Oglethorpe carded eight shots as a team.
- Hagan Griffith accounted for seven shots and four shots on goal in her final game at Warrior Field while both VanHoy and Pritchett finished the game with four shots apiece.
- Gilkey and Skylar Baker produced two shots in the Warriors' big conference win as well.
- Hendrix is currently in sixth place in the conference standings with just one game left.
- Lewis finished with five saves in goal for the Warriors while also picking up her seventh win on the year.

UP NEXT
The Warriors hit the road for the final game of the 2019 regular season. Hendrix travels to Memphis, Tenn. to take on Rhodes Friday at 11 a.m.
