Warriors Back to Winning Ways, Defeat Oglethorpe in Straight Sets

CONWAY, Ark. - A day after falling to no. 6 Berry, Hendrix hosted the Oglethorpe Stormy Petrels Sunday afternoon inside Grove Gymnasium in a classic Southern Athletic Association game. Hendrix managed to hit .257 on the day while limiting Oglethorpe to attacking .126 as the Warriors carved up its ninth sweep of the year after the straight-set win Sunday (25-15, 25-18, 25-22). With the win, Hendrix improves to 12-3 on the year with a 6-1 mark in SAA play while the Stormy Petrels fall to 5-12 on the season and 0-7 in conference games.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Warriors hit a game-high .320 in the opening set thanks to 10 kills as Hendrix took the set, 25-15.
- Trailing 7-6 in the second set, a 4-0 run capped off by a block from Mallory Carty allowed for a 10-7 Hendrix lead.
- Hendrix recorded two late 3-0 runs to take the set, 25-18.
- After back-to-back attack errors by Oglethorpe and a block assist from Maddie Tovar and Carty, Hendrix held a 19-14 cushion in the third set.
- Leading 23-18, two attack errors by Hendrix and an Oglethorpe kill helped the Stormy Petrels carve a late 3-0 run to pull within two points.
- Leading 24-22, Dwyer recorded her 13th kill of the day for match point as the Warriors picked up its ninth sweep of the year following Sunday's straight-set win over Oglethorpe.
- Dwyer finished with another double-double; recording 14 digs and 13 kills and hit .440 on the day.
- Claire Smith accounted for a team-high 18 assists while Sesalie Satterwhite recorded 12.
- Jeanette McGrath also added 14 digs in the win while both Carty and Kiersten Huitt recorded two blocks.
- Hendrix currently sits in a three-way tie for first place in the SAA standings; tied with Berry and Birmingham-Southern.

WHAT WAS SAID
"This weekend revealed where we need to get better and I'm thankful for that," stated head coach Brittany Newberry. "We responded well today after the loss yesterday and are eager to get back in the gym and get to work."

UP NEXT
Hendrix travels to Danville, Ky. in search of the regular season sweep versus Centre. The Warriors battle the Colonels Saturday at 10 a.m. CT.
