Box Score CONWAY, Ark. - Looking to continue its momentum from a week ago against Millsaps, Hendrix hosted the winless Sewanee Tigers inside Young-Wise Memorial Stadium Saturday afternoon for the final game of the 2019 regular season. It didn't take Hendrix long to grab the double-digit lead as Hendrix forced two turnovers and scored 13 points in the games first five minutes after
Mitchell Johnson recovered a fumble that resulted in a seven yard pass from
Miles Thompson to
Chad McGonigal. Hendrix scored a season-high 26 points in the first period as the Warriors cruised to a 47-17 rout of the Sewanee Tigers in the final game of the 2019 season. Hendrix finishes the year with a 7-3 mark on the year while holding a 5-3 record in Southern Athletic Association play.
Kip VanHoose narrowly eclipsed the 1,000-yard mark on the season after recording 188 yards Saturday as the junior finished the 2019 season with 1,001 yards. The Hendrix football seniors were honored prior to kickoff.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Kip VanHoose rushed into the end zone after
Canon Roeder picked off Sewanee on its opening drive for the early 6-0 lead.
- M. Johnson recorded a fumble with 10:51 to go int he first quarter that led to a seven yard touchdown strike from Thompson to Ch. McGonigal to put Hendrix up 13-0 after a successful PAT by
Sandy Burks.

Zan Thomas scored his first collegiate touchdown with 8:18 to go on a six-yard scamper as Hendrix took the 20-0 lead midway through the opening quarter.
- VanHoose scored from a yard out with three and a half minutes to go in the first quarter; his second of the day. Hendrix held the 26-0 lead near the end of the first quarter.
- Less than a minute after Sewanee got on the scoreboard,
Ronnie McShan recorded his first defensive touchdown of the year and second of his career after picking off the Tigers and returning it 65 yards to the house as Hendrix held the 33-7 advantage with 13:28 to go in the first half.
- The Tigers nailed a 34-yard field goal with 10-plus minutes to go in the first half before VanHoose recorded his third touchdown of the day; all of which came in the first half.
- While no teams scored in the third quarter,
Caleb Williams scored his first collegiate touchdown with 6:24 to go in the game on an incredible 40-yard scamper.
Bennett Ellis' first collegiate extra-point try gave Hendrix the 47-10 edge.
- The Tigers scored one final time with 2:48 to go but Hendrix landed the 47-17 victory on Senior Day from Young-Wise Memorial Stadium.
OFFENSIVE NOTABLES:
- Thompson went 11-for-21 through the air for 152 yards and one touchdown while
Jacob Wood and
Mason Doerr went a combined 3-for-3 for 23 yards.
- VanHoose rushed 24 times for 188 yards and three scores; averaging 7.8 yards per carry.
- Williams finished with 43 rushing yards and the one score while
Austin O'Brien,
Deondre Henry,
Presley Day and Thomas combined for 16 carries for 105 yards on the day.
- RP Upshaw caught three passes for 76 yards with a long of 46 against the Tigers.

Blake Hinton caught one pass for 24 yards Saturday.
- Hendrix finished with 529 total yards of offense on 73 plays (7.2 yards per play).
DEFENSIVE NOTABLES:

Cory McGonigal recorded seven tackles on the day and one pass breakup.

Mason Adams accounted for six total tackles, 1.5 sacks for a loss of 13 yards while also forcing one fumble as well.

Tanner Hartsfield registered five tackles in the 30-point win while also recording half a tackle for loss and one quarterback hurry.

Jared Bazley, the reigning SAA Special Teams Player of the Week, recorded three tackles along with 1.5 tackles for a loss of seven yards and one sack for a loss of five yards.

Adonnis Butler and
Jon-Patric Veal recorded half a sack for a loss of three yards as well.

Xavier Thomas also recorded his first interception Saturday against the Tigers.
- The Warriors only allowed 269 yards of total offense on 83 plays (3.2 yards per play) and recorded three interceptions.
SPECIAL TEAMS NOTABLES:

Jaxon Sinclair recorded one punt for 32 yards while
Charles-Antoine Gingras accounted for one punt for 31 yards Saturday.
- Gingras also recorded seven kickoffs for 354 total yards and one touchback (50.6 average).

Jackson Bryant recorded one kickoff for 39 yards Saturday also.
- Bryant also accounted for his first success PAT of the season in the second quarter Saturday.
- Burks went 3-for-3 on PAT attempts on the day.
