Women's Basketball Falls Short in Day One of Millsaps Classic

JACKSON, Miss. - Ali Isbell produced a career-high 13 points and nine defensive rebounds with four assists in 32 minutes but it was not enough as Hendrix fell to Louisiana College Saturday afternoon in the opening day of the 2019 Millsaps Classic, 60-55. Anissa Gutierrez added 12 points and 3 dimes in 33 minutes while shooting 3-of-5 from deep while Cassidy Salyer added 10 points off the bench. With the loss, Hendrix drops to 2-4 while the Wildcats improve to 1-3.

OF NOTE
- After LC held the 33-21 lead at the break, Hendrix outscored the Wildcats 18-12 in the third period which included a 5-0 Warrior run to end the quarter.
- Trailing by six with 10 minutes to play, the Warriors fought relentlessly. A three-pointer by Zoe Mojaver with 6:18 to go gave Hendrix the lead, 47-46.
- After Isbell tied the game up at 49, Cassidy Salyer connected on one of her three trifectas with 2:42 to go to give Hendrix a three-point lead, 52-49.
- A quick 7-0 LC run put the Wildcats in front, 56-52, with 1:32 left.
- The Wildcats connected on four of its final five free throws as LC held on for the 60-55 win over Hendrix.
 
BOX SCORE NOTABLE
- In addition to her career night, Isbell accounted for three steals and shot 5-for-9 from the floor.
- Mojaver added eight points off the bench while shooting 2-of-5 from deep.
- Rachel Woppman and Kessie Jenkins combined for nine points and nine boards while adding two steals and an assist in the loss.
- Hendrix shot 17-for-45 (37.8 percent) from the floor, 10-for-24 (41.7 percent) from deep and 11-for-18 (61.1 percent) at the charity stripe.
- The 10 three-pointers made Saturday, as a team, is a new season-best while the seven team steals is a season-high also.

WHO'S NEXT
Hendrix remains in Jackson, Miss. to battle Austin Sunday at 11 a.m.; the second meeting between both teams in eight days.
