Warriors Drop Road SAA Contest at Millsaps

JACKSON, Miss. - After recording 15 points in the opening 20 minutes of action, Hendrix (9-14, 2-10 SAA) ultimately fell 66-34 to Millsaps (19-4, 10-2 SAA) as the top-ranked team in the Southern Athletic Association improved to 11-0 when playing at home. Sophomore forward Kessie Jenkins reached double figures for the third-straight game after pouring in a team-high 13 points and eight boards against the Majors.

TURNING POINT
Millsaps jumped out to a 12-point lead after 10 minutes of action; possessing all the momentum in this basketball game.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- After Jenkins scored her first two points of the night in the opening minute, Millsaps carved up a 12-0 lead over the next five minutes to take a commanding 12-2 lead with with four minutes left in the first; Majors led 19-7 after one.
- Millsaps scored the first eight points of the second quarter before junior guard Amber Turner found herself with a fast break layup to bring the Warriors within 18 (27-9).
- Millsaps took a 36-15 lead into the break but not before freshman guard Rachel Woppman nailed a trifecta with two seconds left in the half.
- The Majors opened the second half on a 13-2 run to take a 49-17 lead with 4:05 left in the third before Turner hit a free throw.
- With Millsaps leading by 32 after three quarters, both teams accounted for 14 points each in the fourth as the Majors recorded the 66-34 victory. 

OF NOTE
- Jenkins reached double-digits in scoring for the third-straight time and the 10th time this year after her 13-point performance this season; also shot 5-of-7 from the floor.
- Freshman guard Sarah Vogel registered a career-best nine points Friday including a 3-for-8 mark from beyond-the-arc.
- Turner added five points while Woppman accounted for three
- Senior forward Maddie Anderson added a pair of points while freshman guard Carolina Wendt produced a career-best two points as well.
- The Warriors shot 13-of-56 from the floor, 4-for-25 from deep and 4-for-9 at the free throw line while Millsaps shot 24-of-59 from the floor, 6-of-25 from downtown and 12-for-14 at the charity stripe.
- Hendrix recorded six assists off of 13 made baskets and committed 17 turnovers 

WHO'S NEXT
Hendrix will travel further west Sunday as the Warriors participate in its final road game of the 2018-19 regular season. Hendrix will battle Birmingham-Southern from Birmingham, Ala. at 1 p.m.
