Game Recap: Women's Soccer | | Keith Kelley

Eagles, Warriors End in Tie in Hendrix's Home Opener Wednesday

CONWAY, Ark. - Following a two-game trip in Texas to open up the 2019 season, women's soccer opened the season at home Wednesday evening against non-conference foe University of the Ozarks (Ark.) from Warrior Field. Sophomore Mary Helen VanHoy carded home her second goal of the year after Kaitlyn Gilkey picked up her first assist of her young collegiate career in the 29th minute to put Hendrix up. Ozarks scored less than 10 minutes later with that being the last score for the next 70+ minutes as both teams ended in a 1-1 draw. The Eagles now hold a 0-1-2 record while Hendrix is 1-1-1.

WHAT WAS SAID
"I like how we play tonight I felt like we attacked well and created a lot of good chances," stated head coach Jeff Trimble. "We made a mistake or two in the back and they scored a goal in one of them but other than that I really liked how the girls played. There was a lot of handwork, skill and good decisions made. We created some good opportunities and the goals will come."
