Women's Basketball Drops Contest to Centre Friday

DANVILLE, Ky. - Looking to stop a 13-game losing skid, Hendrix traveled to Centre Friday evening. After the Colonels led 20-16 after one quarter of play, Centre built a 55-33 lead with 10 minutes to play as the Colonels defeated the Warriors, 74-45, Friday evening from Danville, Ky. Anissa Gutierrez and Cassidy Salyer combined to score 13 points each, respectively. With the loss, the Warriors drop to 2-15 on the 2019-20 season with an 0-6 mark in SAA play while Centre improves to 9-8 on the season with an even 3-3 mark in conference play.

OF NOTE
- Ali Isbell scored Hendrix's first five points and a trifecta from Gutierrez with 7:09 left in the first quarter gave Hendrix the slim 8-7 advantage. A late 7-0 Centre run in the opening period put the Colonels up 15-11 with 1:50 left in the period.
- Trailing 20-16 after one, Hendrix pulled within three with 4:22 to go in the half after Gutierrez nailed three free throws in a row but the Colonels held the 36-28 advantage at the break after Centre scored the half's final two points.
- Centre scored the first nine points of the second half to give the home team the 47-28 lead. A made free throw by Kessie Jenkins with 3:30 left in the period was Hendrix's first point of the half.
- Hendrix shot 4-of-11 from the field and 2-of-7 from deep in the final 10 minutes of play as Centre earned the 74-45 win over the Warriors Friday.

BOX SCORE NOTABLE
- Isbell and Jenkins carded seven points each and combined nine rebounds and a pair of assists.
- Gutierrez shot 3-of-11 from the floor and 5-for-5 at the charity stripe.
- Jenkins scored all of Hendrix's points in the third quarter (5).
- Salyer shot 4-of-9 from the floor and 4-of-7 from deep while also recording four rebounds and one assist.
- Belle Neilson pulled down three rebounds and shot 1-of-2 from the floor in 20 minutes off the bench.
- Hendrix shot 15-for-47 (31.9 percent) from the floor, 7-of-20 (35 percent) from deep and 8-of-11 (72.7 percent) from the free throw mark.
