Men's Basketball Tripped Up By BSC Friday

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Looking to build upon its incredible season, Hendrix hit the road to Birmingham, Ala. in search of the regular season sweep against the Birmingham-Southern Panthers. Unfortunately, the Panthers shot 60 percent from the floor and better than 57 percent from deep as BSC pulled off the upset, 104-75, over Hendrix Friday night. Brooks Cartwright totaled a team-high 15 points, 12 of which was scored in the opening 20 minutes of play. Hendrix falls to 14-9 on the season with an 8-4 mark in Southern Athletic Association competition while BSC improves to 7-16 on the season with a 3-9 mark in conference games. With two SAA games left on the regular season, Hendrix is still in second place in the conference standings after Centre and Oglethorpe also lost Friday night.

OF NOTE
- A mid-range jumper by Rod Cummings II put Hendrix up 4-2 early on but a quick 7-0 Panther run gave BSC the 9-4 edge with 15:45 until the break.
- BSC hit eight of its nine shots midway through the first half to hold a 42-22 advantage with 5:52 left in the half.
- Cartwright buried his fourth three-pointer of the half with 2:14 left and Stanley hit three consecutive free throws with 1:48 left as Hendrix trailed 35-53 at the break.
- Back-to-back three-pointers by Cartwright and Coman and two free throw makes from Alex Conrad capped off a 10-0 Warrior run as Hendrix trailed 67-51 with 14:11 left in regulation.
- Seconds later, BSC began a 13-0 run to take a commanding 81-51 advantage with 10 minutes left. 
- The Panthers led by 27 or more the rest of the way as BSC recorded the 104-75 win over Hendrix.

BOX SCORE NOTABLE
- Cartwright shot a perfect 4-of-4 from deep in the opening half and finished the game shooting 5-of-6 from deep with four rebounds in 21 minutes of action off the bench.
- Coman and Cummings II added 12 points each, respectively, with five combined steals Friday.
- Stanley shot 6-of-7 from the charity stripe in 33 minutes and recorded 11 points (the lowest amount of points in a game since Feb. 16, 2019).
- Conrad finished with eight points and eight rebounds and shot 6-of-8 from the free throw line against the Panthers.
- Jacob Link accounted for seven points, a team-best nine rebounds and team-high three assists Friday night in 26 minutes of action.
- Hendrix shot 22-of-65 (33.8 percent) from the floor, 11-for-33 (33 percent) from deep and 20-for-26 (76.9 percent) from the free throw line.
- The 33 three-pointers attempted Friday night tied the season-high mark (Jan. 3 at Oglethorpe).
