Warriors Come Up Short in Shootout vs Centre

CONWAY, Ark. - A week after being selected SAA Offensive Player of the Week, Jacob Wood put in another stellar performance in front of a packed house for Senior Day, accounting for 341 yards of total offense and four total touchdowns. This time, however, it was not enough, as the Warriors fell just short of the Centre Colonels in a shootout that was at times more akin to a boxing match, with both teams going blow-for-blow.

Centre scored on the game's opening drive, but Hendrix was able to respond minutes later as linebacker Parker Turley punched it in from 3 yards out to level the game at 7-7. Jacob Bremmon then picked off Nick Osterman to give the Warriors a short field to work with. The offense took full advantage, driving 36 yards on 3 plays to take a 14-7 lead on a 5 yard jet sweep by Trace Knight.

After holding Centre to a field goal, the offense went to work again, needing just 3:25 of clock to drive 75 yards on 7 plays. The drive was capped off by a Tajae White 27-yard TD reception. White would finish with 7 receptions for 99 yards, a season-best for the senior phenom.

Centre would go on to score with 00:55 left in the first half and head into the break with a 24-21 lead.

The Colonels increased their advantage immediately after the break with a 6 yd touchdown run by Quinton Moss. But Hendrix was able to respond, once again driving 75 yards on 7 plays. Jax Johnson's only reception of the day was a 8-yard touchdown catch, which cut the Colonel lead back down to 3.

That was as close as the Warriors would get to the Colonels, as Centre held on for a 45-42 win.
