Warriors Drop Mid-Week Game to In-State Rival

CONWAY, Ark. - Warriors drop mid-week game to the Ozarks Eagles in the final 55 seconds of the match.

On Tuesday night following their conference win over the Millsaps Majors Hendrix hosted Ozarks. The Warriors came out strong, earning multiple corners early in the game. Omar Pelayo led off with the first shot on goal for Hendrix in the 28th minute and after a few substitutions, the Warriors had a throw-in deep in Ozarks' defensive third. Holt Bliss had the Warriors set up like they were taking a corner and took the long throw, landing the ball on the head of Zack Roberts. Roberts' header flick deflected off of the head of an Ozarks defender and into the goal, putting the Warriors up after 35 minutes of play. Both teams had good offensive build-ups over the rest of the half, as the Warriors were hunting for a safety goal and Ozarks was trying to level the board, however, neither team was able to capitalize on their opportunities.

Coming into the second half, Ozarks came out with great intensity, taking a series of five shots in the span of five minutes and finally putting one in the back of the net in the 57th minute. With the game tied and both teams trying to score, the match got more physical with the Eagles and Warriors committing 13 fouls in the final 30 minutes of the game. Both teams created great opportunities, each taking three shots on goal. In the final minute of the game, Ozarks scored their second goal of the game, giving the Warriors only 55 seconds to try and tie the game up. However, a foul on the Eagles gave the Warriors a great set-piece opportunity in the final 15 seconds of the game. Freshman Jack Hamilton had an amazing shot on goal with only six seconds in the game, but he was unable to find the back of the net and it was caught by the Eagles.

The Warriors will be back in action tomorrow night as they continue conference play and host the Sewanee Tigers at Warrior Soccer Field for the first time since the fall of 2018. The women will kick off at 5 pm CST with the men following at about 7:30 pm CST. Live coverage for these events can be found on the Warriors Sports Network with live coverage beginning approximately 15 minutes prior to kick off.
