CLARKSVILLE, Ark. - Hendrix opened up the 2022-23 regular season on the road versus intrastate foe Ozarks.

With 9:42 left to go in the fourth quarter, the Eagles led 66-53. But in just four minutes, the Warriors came roaring all the way back, taking a 72-71 lead off a Kennedi Burns layup with 5:04 remaining.

Hendrix would eventually surrender the lead and not get it back, but the Warriors' faithful can point towards the resiliency that coach Drew Gaeng's squad displayed on Tuesday night as a sign of great things to come.

Simone Shields wasted no time leaving an impression on her Warrior debut. The sophomore transfer recorded a team-high 18 points, going 7-9 from the field and 3-3 from the stripe.

Senior guard Blysse Harmon tallied 17 points, and junior guard Kennedi Burns added 16 points.

Alicia McCloria contributed 12 points off the bench.

The Warriors will return to Conway for the 2022-23 home opener versus Principia on Fri, Nov. 11. Tip-off is set for 5:00 p.m. CT.
