CONWAY, Ark. - The Hendrix Warriors went back-and-forth with Southwestern Sunday afternoon in a contest that had to be decided in extra time.
Kennedi Burns finish in the paint with 1:11 remaining in the fourth quarter sent the game to overtime, but Southwestern would go on to outscore the Warriors 15-9 in the overtime period to escape Grove Gymnasium with a 81-75 win.
Hendrix outscored the Pirates 40-30 in the paint, but it was Southwestern's lethal outside shooting that saw them through, going 10-28 from behind the arc.
After a slow start in the first, the Warriors exploded for 18 points in a fast-paced second quarter to enter the half with a 28-26 lead.
Burns would finish with 20 points and 7 boards, while Blysse Harmon led all scorers with 21. The senior from Greenbrier was one board away from a double-double.
Senior Madi Pierce recorded a double-double with 11 points and 10 boards.
The Warriors will be back in action at home on Tuesday versus Crowley's Ridge on Garrison Court at Grove Gymnasium. Tip-off is set for 6:00 p.m. CT.
