Atlanta, Ga. - The Hendrix Warriors survived a late Oglethorpe push to take home a massive conference victory over the Stormy Petrals on Sunday afternoon. It was the Warriors first-ever win on the Black Top at Dorough Field House.
The win improves the Warriors to 3-6 in the Southern Athletic Association (SAA).
Tyler Deithloff led all scorers with 20 points.
Hendrix went into halftime leading 43-40. Oglethorpe briefly took the lead off a James Jordan 3-pointer before
Braden Weaver responded with a long ball of his own to put the Warriors up 49-47. They would not surrender the lead after that.
Weaver finished with 8 points and was massive on the glass, grabbing 10 boards in total.
Colton McMullin scored 11 points and
Daniel Cobb added 10 points with the pair knocking down three long balls a piece.
The Warriors shot 42.6% from the field and were 11-31 (35.5%) from behind the arc. Crucially, they were clinical from the stripe, finishing 17-21 (81.0%).
Hendrix will return home to face the Sewanee Tigers on Friday, Feb. 3 at 8:00 PM.
